About PDF to JPG

A PDF is easy to read but awkward to reuse. You cannot post a page in a chat app as a picture, put it on a slide, or upload it to a form that accepts images only. This tool draws every page of a PDF and saves each one as a separate JPG picture.

The Resolution setting decides how many pixels each picture gets. It is measured in dots per inch of the page. At 100 DPI an A4 page becomes about 830 by 1170 pixels, at 150 DPI about 1240 by 1750, and at 300 DPI about 2480 by 3510. Going from 100 to 300 DPI means nine times as many pixels, so the files grow quickly.

Screen is enough for reading on a phone or sending in a chat. Standard is a sensible default for slides, documents and most upload forms. Print is meant for paper and for pages with very small text, and it takes longer because each page has many more pixels to draw.

JPG is a lossy format that was built for photographs. The tool saves at a high quality setting, and at Standard or Print the text of an ordinary page is easy to read. Even so, if you zoom far into a picture you can find faint marks around letters and thin lines, because that is how JPG treats sharp edges. Empty areas of a page come out white, since JPG has no transparency.

The file names follow the name of the PDF with the page number at the end, for example report_page_03.jpg, so the pictures stay in order in a folder. Each result is listed with a preview, its size in pixels and its file size. When the PDF has more than one page, one button downloads all pictures together as a ZIP file.

Keep in mind what changes. A page saved as a picture no longer contains text you can select, search or copy, and its links stop working. The tool saves whole pages. It does not pull out the individual photos that are placed inside a PDF. And the PDF must open without a password.

When Should I Use This?

Use it when you need a page as a picture: to share one page of a report in a chat, to place a page on a slide or in a document, to post a certificate or a flyer on social media, or to send a page to a form that accepts JPG but not PDF.

How to Use PDF to JPG Step by Step

  1. Choose one PDF file.
  2. Pick a resolution. Standard suits most uses.
  3. Press Convert to JPG and wait while the pages are drawn one after another.
  4. Check the previews, then download single pages or press Download all as ZIP.

Limitations

It saves whole pages and cannot extract the separate photos inside a PDF. The text in the pictures cannot be selected or searched. Password protected PDFs cannot be opened. Pages that are extremely large are saved at a lower resolution than you chose, because browsers limit how big a picture they can draw, and the tool tells you when that happens. Long documents at Print resolution need a lot of memory, especially on phones.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I convert only one page of the PDF?

The tool converts all pages, and each page gets its own Download button, so you can save just the one you need.

Why does the text look slightly soft when I zoom in?

JPG stores sharp edges less exactly than a PDF does, and a picture has a fixed number of pixels. Choose Print (300 DPI) for sharper letters.

Can it take the photos out of a PDF?

No. It saves a picture of each whole page, including the text and the margins around a photo.

Why are the JPG files together larger than the PDF?

A PDF stores text as letters and shapes, which takes little space. A picture has to store every pixel of the page, so pictures of a text document are often larger than the PDF they came from. A lower resolution gives smaller files.

Is my PDF changed by the conversion?

No. The tool only reads the PDF. The file on your device stays as it is.
